StrideSense Privacy Policy

StrideSense (“we,” “our,” or “the app”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information StrideSense collects, how that information is used, where it may be processed, and the choices available to you.

By using StrideSense, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account or sign in, we may collect your name, email address, user identifier, profile image, and authentication information provided through Firebase Authentication or Google Sign-In. We do not receive or store your Google account password.

Profile and fitness information

Depending on the features you use and the information you choose to provide, we may process:

AI Coach information

If you use the AI Coach, the messages you submit and relevant profile or activity information may be processed to generate personalized responses. This information may include your fitness goals, step count, age, gender, height, weight, distance, calories, active minutes, streaks, and other fitness statistics available in the app.

Please do not submit passwords, financial information, government identification numbers, medical records, or other highly sensitive information through the AI Coach.

Live Walk location information

StrideSense requests precise foreground location only after you manually press Start Walk. During an active Live Walk, Android uses a visible location foreground-service notification so the walk can continue when the screen is locked or the app is not visible. Pressing Stop Walk ends location tracking immediately.

Latitude, longitude, and route points are processed only in memory to calculate current speed, distance, accuracy, and the temporary route. StrideSense does not persist or upload exact coordinates or route points. Route points are cleared when the walk stops or the active account changes. Saved local walk summaries contain only start and end time, valid tracked duration, GPS distance, average speed, walk steps, and any optional name or notes you enter.

Leaderboard information

If you opt in to the leaderboard, your display name, optional Google profile photo, weekly step total, week identifier, and account user ID are stored in Cloud Firestore and displayed to other signed-in users. Email address, exact location, route points, height, weight, age, and AI Coach messages are not included in leaderboard records.

Advertising information

The free version uses Google AdMob. Subject to your region and consent choices, Google may process advertising identifiers, approximate location inferred by its services, device information, app interactions, ad views or clicks, consent choices, and diagnostics to provide, measure, prevent fraud in, and improve advertising. StrideSense does not send step totals, fitness-profile information, AI Coach messages, precise Live Walk location, or route points to AdMob.

Device and technical information

We and our service providers may process limited technical information needed to operate and secure the app. This may include device type, operating-system version, app version, authentication events, diagnostic information, network information, and service logs. The device's timezone identifier is sent to the StrideSense backend so daily AI Coach usage limits reset at the user's local calendar day.

Physical-activity permission

On supported Android devices, StrideSense requests physical-activity permission to detect and display step information. StrideSense only requests permissions required for the features you choose to use.

You can revoke permissions through your device settings. Revoking physical-activity or background permissions may prevent step-tracking features from working correctly.

Some information is stored locally on your device so that features can continue to work offline. Account, profile, fitness, and activity information may also be stored using Google Firebase services, including Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore.

Information processed through the AI Coach may be transmitted securely to our application backend and an AI service provider to generate a response. Information may be processed in countries other than the country where you live.

6. Data Retention

We retain account and cloud-stored information for as long as your account remains active or as necessary to provide StrideSense.

Following a valid deletion request, associated information will be deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period, except when retention is necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or enforcement of agreements.

Limited information may temporarily remain in encrypted backups until those backups are replaced according to the service provider’s normal retention cycle.

Active Live Walk state and saved walk summaries are stored locally for the active guest or signed-in account until the walk or summary is deleted, the applicable account data is cleared, or the app is removed. Temporary route points and exact coordinates are never persisted. Step-diagnostic records are limited to the latest 500 local entries and leave the device only if you deliberately copy and share them.

You can request deletion from the account or settings section of StrideSense.

Please send the request using the email address associated with your StrideSense account and use the subject line “StrideSense Account Deletion Request.”

We may ask you to verify ownership of the account before processing the request. Account deletion is intended to delete your authentication account and associated profile, fitness, activity, and cloud-stored information, subject to the limited retention obligations described above.

Removing StrideSense from your device does not automatically delete information associated with your online account. You must use the account deletion option or submit a deletion request.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or disclosure. However, no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

10. Health and Fitness Disclaimer

StrideSense is provided for general fitness and informational purposes. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Step counts, distance, calories, activity measurements, and AI-generated responses may be estimates and may not always be accurate.

Consult a qualified healthcare professional before making medical decisions or beginning a new exercise program. Do not use StrideSense for medical emergencies.

11. Children’s Privacy

StrideSense is not directed to children under the minimum age required to consent to data processing in their country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without legally valid parental consent.

If you believe that a child has provided personal information improperly, please contact us so that we can investigate and delete it where required.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when StrideSense, applicable law, or our data practices change. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated through the app when appropriate.
